OpusClip turns one long video into short clips, and its Pro plan is $29 a month. SupoClip does the same job, it's open source, and you can run it on your own computer. Here is what it does, how it decides which moments become clips, and how to set it up.
What it is
SupoClip describes itself as an open-source OpusClip alternative. Give it a long video (a podcast, a talk, a stream) as a YouTube link or an upload, and it finds the most clip-worthy moments, scores them, and renders them as vertical 9:16 clips with the speaker kept in frame and subtitles synced word by word. It's released under AGPL-3.0 and has about 1,200 stars on GitHub. There's also a hosted version at supoclip.com and an iOS app if you'd rather not run anything yourself.
How it picks the clips
It doesn't cut at random. AssemblyAI transcribes the video with word-level timestamps, then an AI model you choose (Gemini, GPT, Claude, or a local model through Ollama) reads the transcript and picks the 3 to 7 most clip-worthy segments. Every clip then gets four virality scores:
