Let Claude Use Your Signed-In Chrome in the Background
Chrome Relay is a free, MIT-licensed Mac program that lets Claude Code drive the Chrome you already use, signed in as you, in background tabs. What it does, the install, the catches, and a prompt to try first
Most browser agents start in a blank browser with none of your logins. Chrome Relay, by Alexey Indeev, works the other way: it lets agents like Claude Code open background tabs in your everyday Chrome, signed in as you.
Here's what it does, how to install it, the catches, and a first prompt.
What it does
- Claude works in background tabs, so your own window stays yours.
- chrome-relay do "<goal>" runs a multi-step goal in one command; open, snapshot, click and fill are there for step-by-step control.
- Optional 1Password sign-ins, iPhone approvals and an audit trail.
- On its own test page it passed 23 of 23 checks; agent-browser passed 21 of 23 (the author's numbers).
