Everything below is checked against github.com/ComposioHQ/awesome-claude-skills as of 9 August 2026: Apache-2.0, 72,138 stars, 8,183 forks, 164 linked skills across 11 category sections. Star counts move. The categories and the skill names do not.

What a Claude skill actually is

A skill is a folder with a SKILL.md file in it. That file has a name, a description, and a set of instructions in plain Markdown. It can bundle scripts, reference documents and assets alongside it, but none of that is required.

The description is the important part. It is what Claude reads when it decides whether this skill is relevant to what you just asked. A vague description means the skill never fires. A precise one means it fires when it should.

That simple format is the reason a list like this can exist at all. A skill is portable text, so anyone can publish one and anyone can read one before they run it.

Ten real ones, and what each is for

  1. Brand Guidelines. Applies Anthropic's official brand colours and typography to whatever you generate, so artifacts come out consistent instead of improvised.
  2. Brand Build Skills. A 59-skill library covering the full website lifecycle: brand, design, content, SEO, dev, ops, growth and research. Stack agnostic, and it includes a meta-skill for writing your own.
  3. Competitive Ads Extractor. Pulls competitors' ads out of ad libraries and analyses the messaging and creative angles that are working.
  4. Domain Name Brainstormer. Generates domain ideas and checks availability across .com, .io, .dev and .ai.
  5. Lead Research Assistant. Reads your product, finds target companies, qualifies them and proposes outreach.
  6. Canvas Design. Produces actual visual work as PNG and PDF: posters, layouts, static pieces, built on stated design principles rather than vibes.
  7. Theme Factory. Applies professional font and colour themes to slides, docs, reports and HTML pages, with ten presets.
  8. Image Enhancer. Improves resolution, sharpness and clarity on screenshots and images headed for a deck or a doc.
  9. Slack GIF Creator. Builds animated GIFs sized for Slack, with validators for the size limits.
  10. Video Downloader. Pulls video from YouTube and other platforms for offline editing or archive.

Where "branding" actually lives

The list has no Branding category. Brand Guidelines and Brand Build Skills both sit inside Business and Marketing. If you go looking for a branding section you will not find one, and that is not an omission, it is how the shelf is organised.
